Set SMART Goals For Success

Success in any area can only be reached if you set for yourself clearly defined goals.
You must know where you are headed to avoid travelling around in circles, wasting time, energy, resources (and in some cases money) with little or nothing to show for it! Goals will help you to eliminate 80% of the tasks that produce little, and will guide you to make better use of your time to do more of the tasks that generate the results that you desire.

is an acronym that stands for the following: "S" stands for "Specific" "M" stands for "Measurable" "A" stands for "Attainable" "R" stands for "Relevant" "T" stands for "Time-Limit" Goals must be SPECIFIC.
You must know exactly where you want to go for you to get there.
Without a specific goal you cannot plan a needed road map that will take you to your goal.
3% to 5% of adults have written goals, and about eighty per cent of people who write them down achieve them.
This should emphasize the importance of writing down your goals.
Be sure to write them down clearly, and in detail emphasizing exactly what your goal is.
Goals must be MEASURABLE.
Establish benchmarks and target dates so that you can measure your progress.
Reaching your targets will allow you to gauge how far you have advanced and give you a sense of accomplishment.
This will also encourage you to continue working hard to reach your final goal.
Goals must be ATTAINABLE.
Break down your goal into smaller, easily attainable ones.
For example, if your goal is to sell $600,000 a year, break it down into monthly, weekly and daily goals; doing this will ensure that you do not get overwhelmed.
For example, $600,000 a year might sound like an impossible goal for some, but $50,000 a month or $12,500 a week will seem more attainable.
You will have to work hard to sell $12,500 a week.
Use creativity to figure out ways of reaching your goal.
Set yourself a to-do list with tasks/steps that need to get done on a daily basis, and set yourself deadlines.
Make a list of the tasks that need to get done in order of priority.
You could even put your tasks in your diary to make sure that they get done on (or by) a certain date.
Giving yourself mini-goals and setting deadlines will give you a sense of urgency and will help you to get things done in a timely manner.
Keep in mind that the first step is always the hardest to take because it forces you to get out of your comfort zone, but once you start its usually easier to keep the momentum going.
Setting mini-goals will make reaching your larger goal seem much more attainable.
This will help to give you the impetus needed to work hard to get what you want! Goals must be REASONABLE.
Don't set yourself goals that are absolutely impossible to reach.
Set goals that are within the realm of possibility.
Goals should be ambitious; they should aim to push you beyond your comfort zone so that you can reach new heights.
A goal should represent substantial growth and progress.
Finally, you should always place a TIME LIMIT to reach your goals.
A deadline helps you to work within a timeframe.
Deadlines force you to do things with urgency; they help to keep you going.
If you miss your deadline, set a new one and work towards reaching that! Your goals indicate where you are headed.
They will help you to accomplish far more than you would without them.
